HoD's Message

Hearty welcome to the Department of Instrumentation engineering at Govt polytechnic college Palakkad. Department of Instrument Technology was started in the year 1981 with an intake of 20 students and renamed as Instrumentation engineering in the year 2015 .At present the annual student intake is 60.

Instrumentation engineering is a specialized branch and it deals with measurement, control and automation of processes .The department has qualified and experienced faculty and technically competent supporting staff in its role. The department offers premier professional training that keeps the students to be in pace with the latest developments in the field of instrumentation engineering.

The instrumentation labs are well equipped with advanced measuring and controlling instruments and real time process stations which mimic an industrial scenario. Our alumni are well placed in key positions of industries and research organizations in India and abroad .Our department has signed MOU’s with reputed companies where the students can conduct industrial visits and internships.

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)

  • 1. Our Instrumentation Diploma Engineer will be able to find a career as instrumentation professional in heavy industries applying the acquired knowledge and skills.
  • 2. They will be capable of taking up the responsibilities of planning and execution of various industrial automation projects by their technical and interpersonal skills.
  • 3. They will be taking up their career by adapting to the advancement of technology and services.

Program Specific Outcomes (PSOs)

Students Completed Diploma in Instrumentation Engineering program will be able to:

  • PSO1: Apply their knowledge in the domains of measurement and control to solve     engineering problems.
  • PSO2: Apply the acquired technical skills in the field of Calibration ,testing ,Maintenance and Servicing of Instruments.
  • PSO3: Update their knowledge in the field of Industrial Process Control, Biomedical Instrumentation to cope with Industrial Needs.
